Jobs: Summer 2020

Cute Kid Stuff is excited to be participating in the Government of Canada's Summer Jobs program that helps
young Canadians develop skills and gain paid work experience to successfully transition in the labour market.

As a result of our participation in this program, please note that we can only hire eligible youth.
To be eligible, youth must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and,
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

We encourage youth who self-identify as being part of groups which are underrepresented or have additional barriers to the labour market to apply.

Good to know:

Cute Kid Stuff is a small family business and we are used to wearing a lot of hats! Get ready to do the same :-). If you are already a bento enthusiast and are familiar with the different types of bento boxes, as well their pros/cons etc, that is definitely a plus! Otherwise, we're ready to teach you everything you need to know - but please be aware that there is a LOT of information,  and we're looking for quick learners  :-).

We are hiring for two different positions:

1) Online Marketing Manager

We are looking for an experienced & enthusiastic social media guru who can help us reach the masses via the creation of unpaid social media content that speaks to our audience. The right candidate will have the delicate balance of excellent graphic skills along with impeccable writing skills, and will easily "get" what our followers are looking for. Attention to detail is a must.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited) to:

  • Independent content creation and content curation (photographs, video, stories, etc) for our Facebook Page, Facebook Group (55K members) and Instagram profile
  • Maintain & encourage social interaction; answer product questions
  • Create, proofread and edit engaging and thoughtful social media & marketing copy
  • Implement latest tools & tactics for effectively growing multiple social media accounts
  • Schedule future posts
  • Provide weekly reporting and insights to measure against outlined goals
  • Strategize, coordinate and lead projects
  • Assist in the finalization of a new Shopify website

These online tasks could turn into a part-time (off-site) source of employment year-round if interested.

This job will last for 8 weeks, 35hrs/week, and pays $15 an hour. The position will be located primarily at our Vaughan Warehouse, where safe social distancing practices will always be adhered to. Once trained, there is a possibility of performing some of the work off-site.

Please email with your resume and a brief email outlining any direct experience you have - as well as your availability. Links to graphic and written examples would be great! Please use the subject line: "I'm the social guru you are looking for!" to be considered. Good luck!

2) Warehouse Associate

We're looking for a full-time, temporary associate to help us treat our customers like royalty at our Vaughan warehouse.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited) to:

  • Preparing outgoing orders for shipping (picking, packing, weighing, and labeling orders). Accuracy is key - attention to detail is a must!
  • Helping customers make a selection from our vast variety of products, and checking them out in a quick, yet friendly & professional manner (while maintaining safe social distance)
  • Counting incoming inventory
  • Restocking shelves as needed

The job will include some evening and weekend shifts. Preference will be given to someone who:

  • Has retail experience
  • Has picking/packing/shipping experience (knowledge of Shopify and/or Shipstation is helpful!)
  • Has warehouse/inventory experience
  • Is fluent in English (bilingual speaker a plus!)
  • Is easygoing, relaxed, and can handle a diverse assortment of tasks in a quick-paced environment.

The job will last 8 weeks: 35 hrs/week from July 14 to September 7th and pays $15/hour. The candidate hired must be able to work up to and including labour day (our busiest day of the year).

Please email with your resume and a brief email outlining any direct experience you have. Please use the subject line: "I'm the warehouse associate you are looking for!" to be considered. Good luck!
